Study: Brits still saving in times of financial pressures Over 40% of Brits saved the same amount of money in the last 12 months as they did the year before, research shows.
Findings from Standard Life show that despite financial pressures with high inflation, taxes and living costs, Brits are still determined to boost their savings.Half of 25 – 34 year olds put the same or more money away than they did last year, making them the most likely to save.While 46% of 18 – 24 year olds made an effort to save, compared to 41% of over 55s.John Lawson, Head of Pensions Policy at Standard Life, said that it was “encouraging” to see that people are taking a “sensible approach” when it comes to savings.”Savings, whether it is for a new home, holiday or the long term is vitally important.”People don’t have to set aside a lot of money to feel the benefit of an investment in the future. Whether it’s putting it into a mutual fund, pension or ISA, a little is better than nothing at all.”Recent research from the Post Office showed that 90% of Brits are worried about the impact of inflation on their savings.
