O2 customers have ‘fastest broadband download speeds’ O2 customers enjoy the fastest download speeds via broadband, according to Ofcom, but Orange and T-Mobile trailing in the bottom two spots.
The research by Ofcom looked at mobile broadband dongle speeds of network providers including O2, Vodafone, 3, Orange and T-Mobile.O2′s dongles and datacards were found to load web pages the fastest at 8.5 seconds, with a download speed of 1.5 Mbps, while Orange and T-Mobile (which together have formed Everything Everywhere) were the two slowest, with Orange customers experiencing average download speeds of under 1.5 Mbps. But Everything Everywhere answered Ofcom’s research, saying it was “concerned about the methodology” used.”Our main concern is that Ofcom’s study only focused on dongles, which are only one part of a consumer’s mobile broadband experience and excludes the millions of users that access the internet through their 3G smart phones.”It also excludes 2G data as well as Wi-Fi and we don’t believe it reflects actual 3G geographic coverage or how customers actually use their mobile broadband services.”
